Please explain your role and where that sits within your team

As a Senior Expansion Manager – Iberia at Lavanda, my role is to help players of residential living excel and grow, providing them with flexible living solutions and maximising their incomes with mixed–length rental strategies. With a strong understanding of the target audience and an in-depth knowledge of all the key product features, my main goal is to support the expansion of the business in the Spanish and Portuguese markets and add value to our customers.

In your role, how do you personally create value for Lavanda customers and contribute to their overall experience of working with us?

My background in managing different business models – student accommodation, Co-living, and multifamily- has allowed me to identify and understand the needs and challenges our clients face, as I have experienced them first-hand. So, I understand exactly what they are demanding, innovative and technological solutions to grow their business and make it more profitable. This empathy and a customer-centric approach help me to build solid and win-win relationships based on trust.

Tell us a little bit about yourself. e.g. what is your professional experience? Where are you from / where do you live? What hobbies or passions do you enjoy outside of work?

I started my career acquiring responsibilities by leading the Foreign Trade Department of a state in my home country, Mexico. Seven years ago, I moved to Madrid, where I discovered my passion for the student housing and co-living sector. I managed and grew a startup to become one of Spain’s leading accommodation management companies and the world´s first specialised coliving operator.

In my free time, I like to spend time with my little family (my husband and my dog Enzo). I’m passionate about reading and acquiring new knowledge. I enjoy nature walks and water sports. I love learning about new cultures, and I have found that one of the best ways to do this is through their cuisine. I must confess I have a sweet tooth and do yoga or sometimes exchange it for a glass of wine.

What’s been your greatest achievement in your career?

In my previous position, I created and established organisational and management processes and structures, which have allowed the sustained growth of the company, starting with approximately 150 units to more than 1,200 units in different cities in Spain and with several projects under development, including abroad. In addition to digitising numerous processes, I have led and designed its own PMS with the IT Department. I am delighted and proud to have contributed to turning a startup into one of the leaders in the sector. Because it has been many years of dedicating a lot of time and effort, but passion, perseverance and teamwork have made it possible.

What do you most enjoy about working at Lavanda?

I have only recently joined the Lavanda team, and my first impression is excellent. I am happy, the people are warm, friendly, and passionate about the project. I like it very much because it motivates you to contribute to achieving all the goals they have planned. Every day I learn something new, and I think my experience in the proptech sector couldn’t start better. And from my side, you will have all my disposition, experience, and effort to achieve your growth. Let’s do it, Lavanda Team!
